Autumn Term

Welcome Back- Autumn 2 WC 2.11.17

Welcome back!

This week has been a very busy week (as usual). On Wednesday this week we celebrated All Saint's Day with Mass in school which the children thoroughly enjoyed. In the afternoon the KS2 children split up into houses and created a display for the hall for our Patron Saints: St David, St George, St Patrick and St Andrew. Some year 6 children then presented what they had done in assembly on Thursday. The children were absolutely amazing and obviously  had learnt alot about their Saints (check out the new display in the hall). Also this week some year 2 children went to Oldham Food Bank to drop off all the food which parents/carers had generously donated last half term! Thank you again for all your support. We are certainly looking forward to this busy but enjoyable half term. We will keep you posted with what we are up to!!

Last week the children had another fantastic week. The after school clubs started back (see seperate section) and the children have been very excited about the different activities on offer!

Also the school council have been busy with their campaigns- watch out for the posters around school! The election will take place on Thursday 28th September.

In other news, maths pre tutoring started last week with great success. Please see the letter below explaining what it is about :

This year our whole school focus is about learning conversations. Learning conversations basically mean children having the opportunity to take ownership of their learning and discuss how best they learn and any help they may need in order to achieve their best.

This week we will be introducing an intervention called ‘Maths Pre-tutoring.’ This is were children who are finding a specific aspect of maths difficult or just need a bit of extra support will be invited to a booster session run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays mornings 8.45-9.15. In some cases your child’s teacher can suggest they attend but the children can also request a place.

If they have been chosen or the children themselves opt in they will be given a golden ticket. If your child receives a Golden Ticket that day could they please come to their classroom doors at 8.40 am the following day to attend the session. We understand that notice will only be given the day before so if there is any reason that they cannot attend, if possible, could you make us aware.

If you have any questions or queries please speak to your child’s teacher at the end of the day.

Finally, we have some very famous Year 5  pupils in our school:

These children entered a competition last year and now their work has been pubished!!! Ask a member of staff to have a look at the book!! Well done we are very proud of you all!!!

Welcome back to all the children, parents and families of St Anne's. I hope you have had a relaxing and fun filled summer holiday and are ready for the new school term to begin.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Miss Comer, our new Year 3 teacher! She has settled in to St Anne's and loves her new class. Thank you to all the children who have welcomed her!

Finally, we had our welcome Mass at Church on Tuesday this week to welcome all the children back. The children were exceptionally well behaved and respectful and had the chance to reflect upon the year ahead.

Thank you to all the families for their continued support and I am looking forward to another fantastic year!
