Year 2 Spring Term 1

Dear Parents,

We have a busy yet fun half term planned in year two!

In English we will be learning all about King Midas and writing stories. We will be making fact files about the Winter Olympics and working hard on our Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar.

The Maths focus will be fractions, telling the time, place value and addition and subtraction.

Our topic will be Who will win the Winter Olympics? Children have been put into teams to represent different countries and will be competing in different sports during their PE sessions.  They will have the opportunity to name and locate the world’s 7 continents and 5 oceans. Learn about Olympic values and what the Olympic rings represent.

PE days will stay the same, so please ensure your child has a kit in school every Tuesday and Friday.

Homework will be given out on a Wednesday and should be back in on the following Monday. Spellings for the half term have been given out, there is also a copy in the pink homework book.

Children need their reading book and diary in school every day.

Please could you make sure your child is wearing their Rainbow Badge everyday as they are an essential part of the schools behaviour policy.

We appreciate your co-operation, as we feel it’s important that both home and school work together in order to give your child the best possible education.

Also, if you ever have any comments, questions or concerns, we are available for phone calls and meetings (by appointment please) each day before and after school.

Many Thanks,

Miss Humphreys

King Midas

In English we have been looking at the story of King Midas. The children have thoroughly enjoyed this story and have written some amazing pieces of writing. Here are some photographs of the children acting out the story.
